Advanced technologies can shed a new light on traditional discussions related to medical models and social models regarding people and dissabilities. Convergent scientific and technological fields such a synthetic biology, nanotechnology or 3D printers, bring new opportunies to modify bodily biological functionalities. New possibilities for personalize and accesible manufacturing of mechanical and biological prosthesis are very promising regading body rehabilitación and, also, for augmenting and improving natural capacities. Ableism and functional diversity models can be seen from a new perspective, regarding (...) new possibilities for augmented functionalities, in a way that individual options for rehabilitation become a new form of social diversity. This model can be a social model if we admit technological autonomy as a source of individual rehabilitation beyond normative models for standard abilities. (shrink)

Una ética de la computación es necesaria, y hoy en día insoslayable, para garantizar la construcción ética, democrática y participativa de las tecnologías computacionales y, con ellas, de la sociedad de la información que caracteriza a un conjunto cada vez más creciente de grupos sociales por todo el planeta. Sólo desde un estudio pormenorizado de las características y posibilidades de las dichas tecnologías se puede abordar el trabajo de justificación de la singularidad de la ética de la computación y el (...) de la elaboración de sus principios generales. Aquí se presentan estos principios señalando su importancia para la evaluación constructiva de las tecnologías computacionales y defendiendo su singularidad frente a otros marcos éticos, sin que ello menoscabe las vías de articulación y justificación de los mismos con los principios generales de marcos macroéticos como la infoética o la teoría de la justicia. El diseño y la realización de los entornos influyen en las posibilidades de funcionamiento de las personas, de una manera capacitante o discapacitante. Los esfuerzos tradicionales para eliminar barreras físicas y arquitectónicas han evolucionado hacia una visión más amplia y ‘universalista’ de las exigencias accesibilidad. En el caso de las nuevas tecnologías, la falta de accesibilidad produce desigualdades y brechas tecnológicas en dos aspectos clave: el acceso y el uso. La combinación de estas dos desigualdades conduce a la desigualdad de (...) oportunidades para las personas y grupos sociales afectados por la brecha tecnológica. Con el objetivo de facilitar el acceso y uso del ordenador a personas con funcionamiento no estándar, se presenta la solución tecnológica ‘Heliox’, basada en los principios de diseño para todos, funcionalidad abierta y multimodalidad representacional de los recursos tecnológicos en el entorno de las TIC. El objetivo del presente estudio es describir dos experiencias de implementaci ó n de un programa de intervenci ó n dirigido a j ó venes y adolescentes españoles y dominicanos. El programa se desarrolla mediante la estrategia de gamificaci ó n a travé s del videojuego "Aislados" que contribuye al desarrollo del aprendizaje social y emocional. Se comparan las experiencias, incluyendo los resultados de autopercepci ó n en ambos contextos.

This paper is concerned with certain ontological issues in the foundations of geographic representation. It sets out what these basic issues are, describes the tools needed to deal with them, and draws some implications for a general theory of spatial representation. Our approach has ramifications in the domains of mereology, topology, and the theory of location, and the question of the interaction of these three domains within a unified spatial representation theory is addressed. In the final part we also consider (...) the idea of non-standard geographies, which may be associated with geography under a classical conception in the same sense in which non-standard logics are associated with classical logic. Reasons-first theorists claim that facts about reasons for attitudes are normatively primitive, and that all other normative facts ultimately reduce to facts about reasons. According to their view, for example, the fact that something is good ultimately reduces to facts about reasons to favour it. I argue that these theories face a challenging dilemma due to the normativity of arational lifeforms, for instance the fact that water is good for plants. If all normative facts are, ultimately, facts about reasons for (...) attitudes, then reasons-first theorists must either (a) show that these facts do reduce to facts about reasons, or (b) concede that they do not and, instead, show that this is not a problem for their view. Both options, however, are riddled with difficulties—or so I will try to argue. (shrink)

El autor analiza algunos aspectos de los debates sobre la democracia en la llamada transición de los años ̓80, para advertir sobre la preeminencia que adquirieron las disposiciones procedimentales y representativas —elevadas a condición metanormativa— y la conceptualización de la política como producción de consensos. Esas orientaciones impidieron una recuperación de las experiencias democráticas que la dictadura intentó cancelar, y fueron incapaces de poner en foco las figuras de subjetividad que el terror estatal y el neoliberalismo produjeron en tanto intervenciones (...) sobre las tramas sociales. Finalmente, el autor se detiene brevemente en algunas experiencias políticas democratizadoras, en tanto formas de aparición de los pueblos en estos últimos 40 años. (shrink)

Husserl proceeds to show how a world-representation emerges from our world-experience, and how an idea of the world plays a role in the expansion of world-representations. He also draws our attention to the appropriation of other world-representations in a process of adjustment and compensation leading to intersubjective world-representations, and offers an analysis of the status of world-representations within transcendental phenomenology. In this article I will underline the relevance of Husserl’s concept of horizonedness to the characterization of the three levels of (...) world-experience, worldrepresentation, and the world as an idea. The present investigation aims to elucidate the presence of myth in the work of Eduardo Nicol. This inquiry of course, is something not thought about, since the author in question from the beginning of his philosophy has recognized that the path of thought is beyond myth, that is, it is nuanced by reason and by conceptual rigor. In other words, for him philosophy is about what is phenomenologically accessible and about what is rationally intelligible. Precisely for this reason, one of (...) the names with which Nicol's philosophy is known is under the name of "Metaphysics of expression" by virtue of the fact that what is given is commonly acquired through an expressive or communicative act. However, and despite this conceptual position, the fact is that the presence of myth can be found at the very heart of this philosopher’s philosophy. It should be noted that there is a particular myth that prevails in the clearing of his work, namely the myth of the androgyne. Through this myth it is possible to elucidate the origin of man and the original idea about symbol. (shrink)
